The Philippine women’s national football team will see action in the Pinatar Cup 2023 as part of its preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in August.

The Pinatar Cup will be held 15 to 21 February at the Pinatar Arena Football Center in San Pedro del Pinatar in Murcia, Spain.

The Filipinas will face No. 32 Wales on 15 February, No. 25 Scotland on 18 February and No. 16 Iceland on 21 February.

Philippine Football Federation president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta Jr. said the Filipinas need the much-needed games ahead of their World Cup debut.

“Competing in the Pinatar Cup is a great opportunity for the Filipinas to familiarize themselves with European teams ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” Araneta said.

At the World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the Filipinas are in Group A along with Norway, Switzerland and co-host New Zealand.

The Philipines has so far played friendly matches with the Kiwis, Costa Rica, Chile and Papua New Guinea.

Against the Papuans last week, the Filipinas stormed to a 9-0 victory to end the year on a high note.
