Stephan Schrock will play his final game with the Philippine Azkals on 2 January against Indonesia in the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
In a press conference, the Azkals team captain said this could be the last time he will wear the Philippine colors.
“As you know, in football, nothing is for sure, but 99 percent, this would be my last game for the national team,” Schrock said.
“[After playing] 11 years for the national team, it’s quite emotional for me. Not many know what I had to sacrifice, how many contracts I jeopardized…. how many moments I missed out with my family.”
Prior to the game vs Tim Garuda, Shrock had scored six goals in 54 appearances for the Philippines.
The Filipino-German player was the lone Azkals player to score in the AFC Asian Cup via a free kick in a group match against Kyrgyzstan in 2019.
In a previous report, the former Bundesliga campaigner said he wanted to be head coach of the Azkals someday.
