Converge parts ways with Bulanadi

Converge is not yet done retooling its roster for the upcoming Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup.

The league’s newest team trooped back to the negotiating table on Wednesday to trade deadeye gunner Allyn Bulanadi to NorthPort for Jerrick Balanza.

Atty. Chito Salud, Converge’s representative to the PBA board, and Danny Espiritu, who manages Bulanadi, confirmed this development to Daily Tribune.

“It’s just an assumption of contract,” wrote Espiritu via Messenger.

“He still has a live contract.”

On Tuesday, Bulanadi’s college teammate, RK Ilagan, was also traded along with athletic forward Tyrus Hill and veteran guard Mike DiGregorio for big man Barkley Ebona and Blackwater’s first-round pick this year, which the Bossing acquired in a separate deal with TNT.

Bulanadi made quite a reputation as one of the most feared shooters when he was still playing for San Sebastian College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and Basilan in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

He showed a lot of promise when he joined Alaska after he was released by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas last season after playing briefly for Gilas Pilipinas but couldn’t showcase his offensive repertoire when the FiberXers took over the Aces franchise.

Bulanadi only averaged 4.4 points per game while playing for Converge.

This developed as Espiritu added that Juami Tiongson — another player he represents — agreed to a two-year contract extension.

Tiongson, who was named the Most Improved Player last season, averaged 16.7 points on close to 39 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

He was also one of the steadiest foul shooters in the league, hitting a steady 85.3 percent clip while also dishing out 3.4 assists this conference.
