The door of San Beda University is wide open for Allen Liwag to enter should he wish to continue his journey in the National Collegiate Athletic Association after leaving Emilio Aguinaldo College.
Red Lions head coach Yuri Escueta told Daily Tribune that they have yet to receive feelers but they are very open to the possibility of having the 20-year-old big man on board.
Reports have it that either San Beda or College of Saint Benilde will be the possible destination of Liwag after walking away from EAC following its forgettable campaign in Season 98 last month.
Prior to rumors of Liwag transfer, Escueta and the Red Lions netted a big fish when RC Calimag joined them after leaving University of the Philippines.
“We haven’t talked to Allen yet but having Allen, a 6-foot-7 mobile big man, would bring an impact. Hopefully, he considers going to San Beda as well,” Escueta said.
“His mobility and length would help us stretch the floor in terms of rebounding. He would give opposing teams mismatch problems.”
Liwag, a one-time Gilas Pilipinas pool member, was part of the league’s Defensive Team in Season 97.
He was also hailed as Most Valuable Player of the All-Star Game in Season 98.
But should he decide to stay in the oldest collegiate league in the country, he has to sit out the upcoming Season 99 this year.
