Blow-by-Blow grabs spotlight

Manny Pacquiao’s revived Blow-by-Blow boxing show continued to provide a fistic treat to avid fight fans after the staging of its second promotion late Saturday in Mandaluyong City.

The 14-fight card was held at the Barangay Mauway Executive Sports Complex with Kenneth Llover of the Peָñalosa Boxing Stable beating the rugged Benny Cañete of Omega Boxing in their 10-round Philippine Boxing Federation bantamweight title clash.

Just like during its launch last November, the latest was participated in by various boxing clubs from across the nation, something Pacquiao had wanted when he was trying to bring back the revered boxing program that launched him to superstardom.

“It was great seeing fighters from different stables competing against each other. That’s the sign of a healthy competition,” Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao intends to hold regular promotions in the pursuit of finding the next Filipino ring hero but likewise give the boxers and their handlers the chance to earn.

“Boxing will always be close to my heart. I know the feeling when you are just trying to make a name for himself,” the eight-division champion said.

“It brings back memories of when I was still fighting mostly in Mandaluyong when I was just beginning.”

It appears that Blow-by-Blow is going to be for the long run given Pacquiao’s devotion to the sport that was recently reinforced when he struck a deal to have San Miguel Beer Pale Pilsen as chief backer of the show.

“I have a heavyweight in my corner,” Pacquiao said.

Also providing a helping hand to Pacquiao is the city of Mandaluyong, a team-up that has all the trappings of a knockout winner.
