Nazareth School of National University overcame a rough patch in the third quarter to beat University of the Philippines Integrated School, 78-62, and stretch its winning streak to 33 games in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 85 high school boys’ tournament Wednesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Reinhard Jumamoy became the first UAAP high school player to post two triple-doubles in one season since University of Santo Tomas’ Mark Nonoy did the trick in 2019.

The 19-year-old Cebuano guard came through with 25 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists as the three-peat-seeking Bulldogs extended their unbeaten run to six games.

“The coaches trust me. They guide me in every training and every game,” Jumamoy said.

“My readiness is on and off the court. I have to sustain the mindset that my coaches are giving and refuse to get contented.”

NSNU shoots for the seven-game sweep of the first round against Far Eastern University, as coach Kevin de Castro is looking for a better showing from his troops in the Sunday midday showdown.

Jonas Napalang shot 24 points while Kobe Demisana logged his fifth double-double of the season for the Junior Fighting Maroons with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Later, Vince Reyes had 26 points and 11 rebounds as Adamson University ripped University of the East, 87-52, for its fifth consecutive victory while De La Salle Zobel escaped Ateneo High School, 70-65.

The Baby Falcons have fully recovered from the narrow season-opening loss to the Bullpups.

Adamson will have three days to prepare against Ateneo, its final first round assignment.

Andrei de Leon had 15 points, seven boards, and six assists while Nikko Morales chipped in 12 points for the Junior Warriors, who failed to follow up last Wednesday’s stunning win over the Blue Eagles.
