Esteban bows out in Turin

Comebacking Maxine Esteban bowed out in the Round of 128 after dropping a close 10-9 decision to Canada’s Jane Caulfield in the Foil Grand Prix 2023 in Turin, Italy Friday.

Esteban, fully recovered from a knee injury, finished with a 3-3 win-loss record in poules action.

She defeated Hong Kong’s Sophia Wu, Spain’s Maria Morino, and Austria’s Chiara Groess. She lost to Italy’s Matilde Molinari, Poland’s Renata Tomczak, and Germany’s Aliya Dhuique-Hein.

Nathaniel Perez is entered in the men’s division.

He will face American Samarth Kumbla, Italian Alessio Di Tommaso, Hong Kong’s Kyle Chan, Austria’s Max Schubert, Hungary’s Daniel Dosa and Paul Luca Faul of Germany in Poule No. 6 Saturday.
