Yawi wants to shut down Omega

SOCIAL MEDIA

ECHO team captain Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera is keeping his fingers crossed that they will get to face Omega Esports in the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines Season 11 Playoffs set from 4 to 7 May at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

ECHO was eliminated by Omega Esports in the opening match of MPL Season 9 Playoffs. Both teams shared a heated rivalry since then which seemingly came to a boiling point when ECHO defeated Omega Esports via sweep on Week 8 Day 1 of the regular season.

Shortly after the match, Yawi was seen shouting at Omega.

“I only shouted ‘hoy!’ Weeks ago someone told and showed me that Omega Esports has been talking trash behind my back. So I only got even after the match,” Yawi said.

Omega Esports’ outspoken and brash gold laner Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas, meanwhile, denied that someone from his team is secretly talking trash to Yawi.

“I do not know who talked trash to him, nobody from us did. I do not know why he talked trash to us. Perhaps he only made that up to get even. Let us see each other in the Playoffs, I miss playing against you guys in the Playoffs,” Kelra said.

ECHO, the M4 Mobile Legends world champion, ended the regular season at No. 2 with an 11-3 standing and 29 points while Omega Esports secured the last slot in the Playoffs at No. 6 with a 6-8 standing and 18 points.

Before they could possibly meet in the Playoffs, Omega Esports would first have to overcome an acid test from powerhouse Blacklist International in a do-or-die series on the opening day of the Playoffs on 4 May.

ECHO, meanwhile, shares the upper bracket slot with top seed Bren Esports and would play against the winner of another do-or-die series between RSG PH and ONIC PH.

Though a matchup between the two is nowhere in sight, it is still the game that Yawi wants to have.

“We want to play against Omega Esports because they are the gold standard,” a sarcastic Yawi stressed.

“Kelra said he will do his best to catch up so he could eliminate us again. It is a good feeling because we are both motivated. If we get to play each other and we win you have to go to Yawi’s Food Hub.”
