Elevating star jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno to elite status will be the ultimate objective when ECHO competes in the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup 2023 from 10 to 18 June at the Aeon Mall Mean Chey in Phnom Penh.
ECHO coach Harol “Tictac” Reyes said no less than a victory in the prestigious regional tournament will cement KarlTzy’s legendary status, making him the greatest Filipino Mobile Legend player of all time.
KarlTzy already has a lot of accolades at such a young age of 18.
In fact, he emerged as M2 World Championship Most Valuable Player two years ago and is the only player in history to win two world titles.
Mobile Legends fans shower him with adulation, calling him as the greatest of all time, but KarlTzy humbly brushed off the remarks, saying that his collection is not yet complete as he is still searching for his first MSC title.
Instead, KarlTzy believes that his former Bren Esports teammate Carlito “Ribo” Ribo Jr. remains as the greatest of all time for having won all Mobile Legends tournaments, including the MSC when he was still a member of Aether Main in 2018.
Tictac said winning the MSC crown will put an end to the debate on who is the greatest Filipino Mobile Legends player.
“This is very important to us because MSC is the only title that is lacking to cement KarlTzy as the greatest of all time,” Tictac said.
Tristan “YAWI” Cabrera agrees with Tictac, saying that they will march to the MSC hungry and determined to win the 12-team tournament that will also have Filipino team Blacklist International.
Also challenging ECHO are Onic Esports and Evos Legends of Indonesia, TODAK of Malaysia, RSG Slate SG of Singapore, BURN X FLASH of Cambodia, Fenix Esports of Myanmar, Team EVO of Laos, Team Occupy of Egypt, Outplay of the United States and Canada, and Fire Flux Impunity of Turkey.
ECHO is in Group A together with Fire Flux Impunity and Team EVO.
“We really want to win this tournament not only for KarlTzy but also for the team,” said Yawi, who will be joined by Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya, Alston “Sanji” Placibo and Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales.
“We are on a winning streak and the momentum is on our side.”
Though one of the favorites to win the tournament, ECHO coach Robert Alexis “Trebor” Sanchez said that they will be taking every match seriously and will not look past their opponents amid predictions that they will easily lord over their foes in the Group Stage.
“I think they (the fans) have wrongly analyzed Group A,” Trebor said.
“They do not know the players and their teams. Fire Flux Impunity showed in M4 that they play like Blacklist International.”
