BYD, the eminent Asian electric vehicle manufacturer, has driven past the competition to secure the title of the world’s leading EV brand, according to a report by Visual Capitalist. Propelling its staggering growth was an impressive 211 percent surge in 2022, a feat that eclipsed even Tesla’s global EV production.

Envisaging a clear path ahead, BYD is revving up its ambitions with planned expansion initiatives across Europe and Southeast Asia. The Visual Capitalist report projects BYD’s EV production to soon cross the unprecedented threshold of two million units in a year, underscoring the brand’s superior quality, pioneering designs, and firm commitment to leading the automotive industry’s evolution on a global scale.

For Filipino automotive enthusiasts, BYD’s global leadership in EVs offers a chance to be at the forefront of the electric revolution. BYD is bringing its cutting-edge features and eco-conscious commitment to Philippine shores through its local distributor, Solar Transport and Automotive Resources Corp., a stalwart in Philippine EV distribution since 2013.

Fresh off a successful showcase of BYD’s electric powerhouses, including the Dolphin, Han and Tang EVs at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show, Solar Transport is fully primed to drive widespread adoption of sustainable transportation solutions in the Philippines. Mark Andrew Tieng, President and CEO of Solar Transport, invites customers to join the movement toward a cleaner future by investing in a BYD EV. “Together, we can drive positive change and create a brighter future for all,” he affirms.

BYD has won over Asian markets with its steadfast commitment to innovation, environmental sustainability and commercial viability. In Thailand, for example, BYD set a brisk pace in September 2022 by importing 5,000 cars, leveraging a tax incentive on imports arrangement with the Thai government. By January, a CarNewsChina.com report hailed BYD as the country’s top EV seller, with its ATTO 3 model selling over 1,040 units. BYD’s strong performance is attributed to its large-scale exports of ATTO 3, with more than 10,000 vehicles shipped to date.

BYD has since announced plans to open a production hub in Rayong, Thailand, aiming to produce 150,000 units in 2024. With its ultra-safe Blade battery and e-Platform 3.0, BYD is set to make significant strides in the Philippine market, offering consumers the same level of excellence that’s put the brand on the global EV map.

Choosing a BYD EV yields considerable financial benefits, including impressive mileage and substantial fuel savings compared to traditional gasoline-powered cars. Coupled with the lower maintenance requirements of BYD EVs, drivers stand to save significantly over the life of their vehicles.

As the Philippine government accelerates its roll-out of EVs under the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry, complete with incentives like tax breaks and reduced registration fees, EV ownership becomes an increasingly attractive proposition for Filipino motorists.

Choosing a BYD EV also means contributing to environmental preservation. Zero tailpipe emissions from EVs contribute to reduced air pollution and improved urban air quality. BYD EV owners can also take pride in substantially reducing carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional vehicles.

Solar Transport pledges top-tier after-sales service and support for BYD EV owners, including an industry-standard warranty coverage of eight years or 150,000 kilometers. With BYD’s aggressive global expansion and government-backed incentives, Filipino BYD owners can look forward to seamless ownership and peace of mind.
