A 32-man national delegation is set to leave for Jakarta on Tuesday to see action in the 45th Southeast Asian Age Group Aquatics Championships set from 24 to 26 August.
A total of 19 swimmers, four divers, six coaches and three officials comprise the delegation bannered by national junior record holder Jamesray Ajido and 2022 World Junior Championship campaigner Amina Isabelle Bungubung.
Philippine Swimming Inc. secretary general Eric Buhain said they are deploying a team that has a handsome chance of winning.
“We are sending a lean team with a high chance of winning medals for our country,” Buhain, a two-time Olympian, said.
“This is the first SEA Age Group team under the new administration of Philippine Aquatics. On behalf of our president Michael Vargas, we are proud of our team, we are very happy that swimming is very active nationwide given the diversity of hometowns of our team.”
Aside from Ajido and Bungubung, who both come from Quezon City, the team also includes Mishka Sy, Jalid Taguinod, Ivo Nikolai Enot, Joshua Park, Aishel Evangelista, Estifano Ramos, Lance Rafael Cruz, Patricia Mae Santos, Shairinne Floriano, and Peter Cyrus Dean.
The team also includes Jie Angela Mikaela Talosig, Catherine Cruz, Arabella Taguinota, Bea Mabalay and Jennuel Boo, Clark Kent Apuada and Ava Samantha Bautista.
