The Philippine Azkals came back from a 0-1 deficit and came out on top, 2-1, over Afghanistan in a friendly match at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium Tuesday evening.

After the Afghans took the lead thanks to a goal from Zelfagar Nazari, the Philippines fought back after Jens Rasmussen converted a tap-in in the 73rd minute.

Christian Rontini went on and scored a header in the 81st minute to seal the win.

This is part of the Azkals’ two-game friendly series this month in preparation for the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this November.
