The Serbian national basketball team will receive a hefty financial reward from its government for its second-place finish in the FIBA World Cup in Manila.

According to eurohoops.net, each player gets P25,000 (P1.5 million) while head coach Svetislav Pesic will also be rewarded the same amount.

Led by Bogdan Bogdanovic, Serbia fell to Germany, 83-77, during Sunday night’s final showdown at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Bracketed in Manila, Serbia topped its group before advancing into the next stage.

Its lone loss aside from Germany was against Italy but it rebounded when it downed Canada for the right to play in the gold medal game.

Bogdanovic led the way in scoring for Serbia with over 19 points per game in the entire tournament.

The Serbian team touched down at Nikola Tesla Airport on Tuesday with fans in attendance.
