Cebu, Stallion fall in AFC Cup debut

Cebu FC got a rude awakening in its AFC Cup debut after a 0-3 loss to Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown FC at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium Thursday evening.

Shimizu Shintaro broke the ice in the 42nd minute for Phnom Penh before team captain Orn Chanpolin and Andres Nieto added two more goals in the 54th and 84th minute, respectively.

The Gentle Giants are at the bottom of Group G due to a -3 goal difference.

Last Wednesday, Stallion Laguna FC absorbed a 2-5 drubbing against Bali United of Indonesia at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.

Ilija Spasojevic scored a brace in the 27th and 72nd minutes with Haudi Abdillah (33rd minute), Mohammed Rashid (54th minute) and Muhamad Rachmat (69th minute).

Junior Sam (30th minute) and Abraham Placito (80th minute) were the goalscorers for Stallion in its debut in the continental competition.
