POC fields 90 athletes in opening parade

HANGZHOU, China — A total of 90 athletes, led by Olympian EJ Obiena and Margielyn Didal, will compose Team Philippines in the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games on Saturday at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center here.

Deputy Chief of Mission Karen Caballero said they are now finalizing the names of athletes who will join the parade that will celebrate China’s third hosting of the Games.

She said the initial list includes athletes from shooting, boxing, and swimming and others who don’t have scheduled events until Sunday.

Almost 400 athletes from 37 sports will represent the Philippines in this prestigious quadrennial meet.
