CEBU CITY – Manila Chooks! prevailed over Futian, 21-17, to book a spot in the quarterfinal of the Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3×3 World Tour Cebu Masters here at the SM Seaside City Saturday evening.

After an early 14-20 loss to Austria’s Vienna, Manila Chooks! made sure their chance of making it to the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament boosted up as they made it to the knockout round for the quarterfinal after 15 months of futility.

“There’s no more tomorrow for us. We have to give it our all, no matter how hard it is for us,” Mac Tallo said.

“We hope the momentum we had today will carry over for tomorrow’s game.”

Manila Chooks! will be up against Ub Huishan of Serbia on Sunday, 25 September.

Meanwhile, after sweeping the qualifying draw, Lubao dropped out of the tournament after a 17-21 loss to Ulaanbataar of Mongolia.

Lubao earlier lost to Miami, 22-15, so the team won’t be advancing due to a 0-2 win-loss record in Pool D.
