Ford & Fitness: Turn your truck into a gym

Ford Philippines has taken a somewhat unorthodox approach to promote the diverse capabilities of their Next-Generation Ford Ranger truck, by conducting Ford & Fitness; an event that positions the versatile pickup as more than just a vehicle but also a tool for physical fitness.

Hosted at the Ford Alabang dealership, the event attracted a keen audience, comprising nearly 50 individuals from the Next-Generation Ranger Philippines Club and Ford Alabang’s customer base.

The occasion forms part of a sequence of activities rolled out for Ford Truck Month, aimed at underscoring the diverse applications that the Ford Ranger can offer to its owners.

It’s a departure from the more conventional test-drive and tech-oriented events, and instead focuses on lifestyle enhancement, specifically in the realm of physical fitness and mental wellness.

What piqued the interest of participants was the unconventional workout tailored by coach Jose Villablanca, CEO of wellness firm Holifit.

Dubbed the “Pick-up Truck Workout,” the regimen turned the Next-Gen Ranger into a makeshift gym, as attendees engaged in full-body circuit workouts across various areas of the pickup.

From incline push-ups in the backseat to step-ups and side lunges on the rear box and sidestep boards, the Ford Ranger demonstrated a perfect alternative use for its utilitarian attributes and boxy shape.

“Having a fit body is essential to get through the day-to-day grind. This workout shows Next-Gen Ranger owners that their chosen truck is capable and versatile for their fitness pursuits — they can even use it as a tool to add variety to their workouts,” Villablanca said.

His perspective indicates that Ford’s foray into fitness-oriented consumer engagement is grounded in practical applications, spotlighting the Ranger’s potential roles that extend beyond the road.

Taking a holistic approach to fitness, the event also covered mental well-being in a session titled “Next-Gen Mindset.”

Led by certified fitness and mindset coach, Coach Cam Lagmay, the segment honed in on the importance of mental preparedness when tackling both physical and cognitive challenges.

“Fitness is holistic, and a fit body will be best achieved with a clear mind that understands what the work it takes to make goals a reality,” Lagmay noted. His discussion concluded with a meditation session, offering attendees a brief respite to recalibrate their cognitive faculties.

Further elevating the comprehensive nature of Ford & Fitness, the event extended its educational ambit to include a Ford Ranger and FordPass product walkthrough presented by sales consultant Migs Camacho.

Rounding out the roster of experts was Ivy Pelimiano, Ford Alabang dealer customer relations center manager, who emphasized the necessity of adhering to a regular preventive maintenance schedule for optimal vehicle performance, particularly in the lead-up to the holiday season.

The Ford & Fitness initiative is part of Ford Philippines’ strategy to deepen its relationship with the growing community of Ford owners and club members.

Mike Breen, president and managing director of Ford Philippines, said: “We truly appreciate the support we are getting from Ford owners and club members who embody the variety of passions we have always aimed to enable with our Ford vehicles.”

“Today, we saw how fitness enthusiasts can benefit from the capabilities and versatility of the Next-Gen Ranger as a companion for their active pursuits.”
