Defending Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines champion ECHO emerged as the first team to qualify to the Playoffs and grab an upper bracket slot for the Season 12 Playoffs after winning nine straight games with still one week left in the regular season of the tournament.
Coached by Harold “Tictac” Reyes and Robert “Trebor” Sanchez, ECHO has yet to field its world championship roster as team captain Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera has been on the bench since day one and was substituted by MPL veteran and sixth-man Jaypee “Jaypee” dela Cruz.
Jaypee, who has proven his worth over and over in the course of five weeks of playing time in the regular season, is backed by M2 World Championship Most Valuable Player Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, M4 World Championship MVP Frederic “Bennyqt” Gonzales, Alston “Sanji” Placibo and Sanford Vinuya.
“We are happy and thankful to the fans,” ECHO gold laner Bennyqt said.
“The difference now is when there are times when we lose a game we can quickly adjust to what they do be it on the game plan or drafting.”
ECHO did not even have to win over Omega Esports last Friday.
With a previous standing of 9-0 with 24 points, ECHO was already guaranteed a spot in the Playoffs regardless of their performance on Weeks five and six of the tournament.
The ongoing season of MPL PH is especially important for all the competing teams Blacklist International, AP Bren, RSG PH, Omega Esports, Minana Evos, ONIC PH and TNC Pro Team.
By the end of the season, the top two squads of the tournament will earn a slot in the grandest stage of competitive Mobile Legends — the M5 World Championship — that is scheduled to take place later this year in the Philippines.
