Aidric Jose Chan came up with a one-under-par 69 to salvage joint fifth place Friday at the close of the 89th Singha Thailand Amateur Open at the Panya Indra Golf Club.

Chan finished with an even-par 280 on rounds of 70-68-73-69 to become the best performing member of Team Philippines.

The pro-bound Chan birdied 6, 11 and 15, but fumbled with bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18.

His teammate, first-round leader Perry Josef Bucay failed to sustain the heat of his opening-day output, faltering with a three-over-par 73 in the final round.

Bucay, who fired a 67 on Tuesday, could only total one-over 281 to place joint eighth.

Other Filipinos Bobe Salahog wound up tied for 34th following a 293 total, while Shinichi Suzuki placed joint 46th after a 297.

Thais Thanawin Lee and Warut Boonrod both finished at 10-under 270 and were figuring in a playoff as of presstime.

In women’s action, Anya Cedo placed joint 14th, hitting a three-under-par 67 on the final day for a even-par 280 total.

Alethea Gaccion was joint 35th after turning in a 70 for a 290.

Thailand’s Thitikarn Thapasit ruled the meet with a one-stroke victory following a 67 on final day for 269.

The young, six-man crew was sent to Thailand by the National Golf Association of the Philippines.
