It’s the end of the road for the Filipinas as they crash out of contention for the 2024 AFC Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Despite a 1-0 win over Iran at the Perth Rectangular Stadium in Australia Wednesday afternoon, the Filipinas’ dreams of making it into the Paris Summer Games next year fell short after being edged out by Uzbekistan as the best second place team in the second round.

Despite having both identical 2-0-1 win-draw-loss records, the Uzbeks move onto the third and final round in February 2024 due to a +2 goal difference compared to the Philippines’ -4 GD.

Sarina Bolden is the Filipinas’ top scorer in their campaign with five goals.

The Philippines started the second round on a positive note with a 4-1 win over Chinese Taipei last 26 October before suffering a 0-8 beating from the Australians three days later.
