Vietnam takes down Azkals

The Philippine national men’s football team lost to Vietnam 0-1 to begin its campaign in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium Thursday evening.

Nguyen Van Toan scored the lone goal of the game in the 16th minute before Nguyen Dinh Bac made it 2-0 in the 90th minute in front of 10,378 spectators as the Vietnamese picked up three points in Group F.

The top two teams will advance to the third round and will earn automatic berths to the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia

The Azkals faces Indonesia on Tuesday, 21 November, at the same venue.
