Hotshots ready for Bolts import

Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero swears he and the Hotshots don’t have a full scouting report on incoming Meralco import Shonn Miller.

In fact, Magnolia only got a glimpse of Miller’s brand of play from his highlight reels on the Internet.

“We’ve seen highlights of his game, but that’s it,” said Victolero on the eve of their game against the Bolts as the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup goes to Iloilo City on Saturday.

“That’s all we can rely on at this time, but we’ll come out prepared for him,” Victolero said.

Miller is coming off a triumphant campaign with Fuerza Regia in the Mexican league and will be Meralco’s third reinforcement following the injury sustained by Sulaiman Briamoh and the decision to drop Zach Lofton.

Though not a bad pick to fill in for Briamoh, Lofton was deemed small as the squad is in dire need of a bigger and stronger guy.

The league cleared Miller after being officially measured at 6-foot-6 and ¼.

The Hotshots are already guaranteed of the top seed and the twice-to-beat edge in the playoffs with a tournament-best 9-1 win-loss slate.

But Victolero and his troops are not satisfied.

“We want to make a good impression in our first game of the year and we want to bring that playoff mentality already so we can carry it over in the quarterfinal round,” Victolero added.
