Filipino-German Geritt Holtmann makes his return to Bundesliga after signing with SV Darmstadt 1898 on loan.

In a social media announcement, the club said the 28-year-old Holtmann will be with it until the end of the season.

Holtmann only made eight appearances for Antalyaspor FC in Turkey and scored one goal that saw his first loan move from VFL Bochum cut short.

“Welcome to our sports club, Gerrit Holtmann! We are signing the 28-year-old offensive player on loan from VfL Bochum for the rest of the second half of the season.” Darmstadt posted.

Darmstadt is currently last in the 18-team league with a 2-5-11 win-draw-loss record with 11 points.

A move back to Germany could revitalize Holtmann’s season as his best season was playing for Bochum where he scored five goals and six assists in the 2021-2022 season.

Darmstadt is also hoping to turn its fortunes around and it aims to finish at least in 15th place to avoid relegation to 2.Bundesliga.

Holtmann could make his debut for the club as early as 28 January when Darmstadt plays against I. FC Union Berlin.
