The beloved 2022 Honda Civic has some issues and Honda Cars Philippines is quick to do something about it.

Honda has announced “a voluntary safety recall” of 1,025 units of the 2022 Honda Civic units to replace the electric power steering gearbox.

It was a preventive measure for the company whose cars — especially the flagship Civic — is known for its durability, style as well as safety.

Don’t worry, fixing it won’t take long.

“It has been found that the electric power steering gearbox worm gear in these units was improperly installed or manufactured. The grease applied on the worm gear was depleted, causing a stick slip leading to an unusual sound when turning the steering wheel,” said the carmakers’ press statement.

Fortunately, no accidents related to this issue have been reported in the Philippines, but as Honda always promises to deliver on quality and safety, our 37 authorized Honda Dealers and four Service Centers nationwide will conduct the replacement of the faulty parts.

“This will be free of charge for affected vehicle owners and should only take three and a half hours to complete,” added the statement.

HCPI is working to notify all the owners of the affected vehicles. If any of these vehicles have been sold or disposed, HCPI will seek assistance to obtain the contact information of the new owners.

Owners may also verify if their vehicle is affected by the recall by encoding the 17-digit Chassis Number or Vehicle Identification Number in the recall information webpage at www.hondaphil.com/recall.

Inquiries can be made at any Honda Dealership or via HCPI’s hotline at (02) 8 857-7240. HCPI would like to apologize for the inconvenience and thanks its customers for their continued support and cooperation.
