Terrafirma will not be complacent despite pulling off an earth-shaking victory over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup late Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

Javi Gomez de Liaño said they can’t afford to rest on their laurels despite posting a 91-85 victory that serves as their second victory over the Kings after 23 meeting since entering the PBA in 2014.

Prior the match, Terrafirma’s last victory over the Kings was a 95-90 triumph that they posted in the Philippine Cup on 23 September 2021.

“We have to take it one game at a time, continue to play for each other and play for our coaches to get those wins,” Gomez de Liaño said after firing 22 points to lead the Dyip to the impressive victory.

“It is just a collective effort from the team. It started in the second half. Based on our history, sometimes, we tend to slack off at the start of the third.”

With the win, Terrafirma is already at the fourth spot with a 4-3 win-loss record and could make it to the quarterfinals for only the second time in franchise history.

A good performance in their last four matches — against San Miguel Beer on Wednesday, Rain or Shine on 30 April, NorthPort on 24 April, and Magnolia on 3 May — will put the Dyip in a perfect position to grab the top two spots for the coveted twice-to-beat advantage.

The last time Terrafirma made it to the post-season was in the 2016 Governors’ Cup in which it lost to Meralco in the quarterfinals to finish fifth.

Terrafirma head coach Johnedel Cardel believes that their hunger and belief in the system will serve as the key to their deep run in the all-Filipino wars.

“We’re not in the quarterfinals yet. We have four more games left,” Cardel said.
